How to dress for Church (Respectfully)
What to wear to church can vary depending on the specific church’s dress code or cultural expectations. However, in general, it is appropriate to dress modestly and conservatively to show respect for the sacredness of the religious space and occasion.
For men, a collared shirt and dress pants or khakis are typically acceptable. A jacket or blazer can also be worn for a more formal look. Avoid wearing shorts, t-shirts with slogans or graphics, and athletic wear.
For women, dresses, skirts, or dress pants with a blouse are usually appropriate. Avoid wearing revealing or tight-fitting clothing, such as mini-skirts or low-cut tops. If wearing a dress or skirt, make sure it is at or below knee-length.
It’s also important to consider the weather and the specific traditions of the church you will be attending. Some churches may have more formal dress codes, while others may be more relaxed. If you’re unsure, it’s always best to err on the side of dressing more conservatively.
